Transfer Gossip

Welcome back to another doze of Transfer Gossip. Despite the fact that it’s almost October, the newspapers have been very busy linking Manchester Untied with another top class footballer:

David Silva

Valencia forward David Silva has given the strongest indication yet that he is interested in a move to Manchester United.

The Spaniard has been closely monitored by Sir Alex Ferguson for the last few months, and the United manager has sent scouts to two of Silva’s games this season, The Daily Mirror reports.

The 23-year-old, who helped Spain win the Euro 2008 title with some eye-catching displays, continued to reiterate his unwavering commitment to Valencia, but also admitted that an offer from the Red Devils may be too good to resist.

“It’s an honour for any player that a club of the prestige of Manchester United should follow them and that in itself is enormous praise,” Silva said.

“I am committed to Valencia and my dream is to win the title but in the future anything is possible.

“Valencia have rejected offers for me in the past few months and I am happy here. But I also know that the Premier League is a big competition and hard to resist.”

Silva was also wanted by Liverpool during the summer, but the Reds were unable to match Valencia’s £30 million asking price.

In contrast, United, still heavily cashed up with the funds from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo, are unlikely to have any problems with financing a deal.

All UnitedZone users would be delighted to see David Silva come to Manchester United, but only a few users think it is possible:

Red Devil

Silva is a class act and fits our bill perfectly. He is a highly versatile player capable of playing on both flanks and just behind the striker. I’d love to have him here. But I do not think there is any truth in these rumors and I can’t see Fergie making a big signing in the January transfer window. I’ve read somewhere that this might be Fergie’s last season and he is saving up the cash so that his successor can build a team of his own liking.

Unless players are departing, I do not see how this would work at this point.

The first team looks pretty set.

Although United if I’m not mistaken, put in a bid for him during the summer window I’m guessing that Valencia wanted too much for him. Can’t see how that would be any different during the January window…

I agree with funky, we would essentially have to lose someone to sign Da silva

The current wingers on our pay roll are
- Park signed a new contract
- Nani has been excellent
- Valencia is a new signing and has done a fair job so far
- tosic – one for the future
- Obertan injured atm so we will see.

Maybe there is room for silva? it will essentially mean a reduced role for one of nani or Valencia and even less chances for park. However it was mentioned before how versatile the guy is and just how immensley talented he is. One thing we musnt forget is that he is probably much better than any of the wingers we got atm and he can play in other roles too, more central should we need him too.

Silva would be an excellent signing, it might spell the end to someone at united, but our opposition’s midfields are much better than ours so we really need to boost our squad imo. ofcourse it will mean some tough decisions but the hard line of it is he is much better than what we have.

For his age his talent is remarkable.
- he will sell shirts
- He will win us games
- He will play for long enough to justify the 30 million.

I think he wants to leave and i dont think there is any space for him at Madrid, he might get into barca but they are doing fine as things stand. Chelsea rarely use traditional wingers and their reliance on central midfielders to win games meant so many wingers went to chelsea and completely failed. Liverpool, well who would want to play for them? That doesnt leave many top clubs that he would fit into, I could see why united would be attractive to him.

Ask any player and a lot of them will say they would love to play for united. It means nothing, we have to be interested too and im sure fergie has a plan. Who knows who will be part of that plan?
