2008 Champions of Europe

May 21st – another unforgettable day in my life. It was the day I’ve finished my exams and my mood couldn’t have been better when I came home: CL final in a couple of hours, a couple of hours that seemed an eternity. I could have sworn the time was slowing down. I was very excited and couldn’t find my place. Manchester United playing in the final! I turned on my computer and made a playlist with all of my Untied chants and songs.
Because I don’t like the commentators from our National Television I decided to watch the match over the internet. I regretted this decision later though – ESPN. I found a stream and began watching. The pre-match was rather boring and useless for an United fan, with most pundits talking about Chelsea and how great they were.

United’s Midfield Magician

On May 30th, 2007, the Manchester United website confirmed that the club had agreed in principle to sign Anderson from FC Porto for an undisclosed fee, reported to be approximately £18m. On June 29, 2007, he was granted the move was completed on July 2nd, with Anderson signing a five-year contract. The youngster was friends with Portuguese speaking team mates, Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani, prior to joining the club so it was easier for him to adapt and understand what was going on during the first training sessions.

TT Link Me

Inspired by ESPN page 2 columnist Bill Simmons (One of my favourite sports writers, although he gets minus marks for selecting Tottenham Hotspurs as his EPL club and calling Manchester United the “New York Yankees” of the EPL), Terrace Talk will debut a weekly segment of “TT Link Me”.
With so much information being tossed around during a 24 hour news cycle, at times it can become extremely difficult catching every quality article, video or news. Thats where you come in.

Video of The Day: Goal of the season in EPL

“He scores with his left
He scores with his right
That boy Ronaldo
Makes England look shite”

Ladies and gentlemen I proudly present you the EPL Goal of the season: Cristiano Ronaldo’s free-kick against Portsmouth.

EPL Post-Match: Wigan Athletic vs. Manchester United

Another week and another United legend faces his old team, trying to deny them the points that would seal their destiny as champions of England. This time Steve Bruce had the limelight placed on him to honestly motivate his team, with the media having their doubts. Little would they know that what would unfold, would be a hard fought battle between two clubs from the northwest.

May 26th 1999: Where were you?

Now that we’re on the brink of another Champions’ League final after an 8-year long wait, what are your recollections of that fantastic night?
Me: I was visiting my parents on Long Island at the time. I called around that previous weekend to find out who would be showing the FA Cup Final versus Newcastle, and I settled on an Irish pub called Lily Flanagan’s in Islip. The place was packed to the rafters that Saturday with a primarily pro-United crowd, and it was a great atmosphere.

Video of the Day: The Magnificent Paul Scholes

A magnificent player, a magnificent goal, a place in the UEFA Champions League final.

Scholsey made millions of people happy. His goal isn’t just a beauty but is also United’s ticket to Moscow.

So, I proudly present you the video of the day: Paul Scholes’ goal against Barcelona.

Until a couple of weeks ago all I could say about Gerard Pique was that he had been playing in the reserves and waiting for his big chance. In eight and a half months he has made four Premier League appearances and played in two Champions League matches. But when Nemanja Vidic got injured, Pique stepped up, ready to prove that he’s worth a place in the starting eleven. It was a crucial time of the season when Sir Alex Ferguson handed Gerard a place in the starting line-up. He played in the second leg of UEFA Champions League quarterfinal against Roma and in the derby against Arsenal. Pique has played spotless 180 minutes and deserves credit for those great displays.

EPL Preview: Manchester United vs. West Ham

Without a win in over two years against West Ham, Manchester United cannot afford to falter once more against the Hammers. A myriad of actors have come to perform on the grandest of stages, with Carlos Tevez being the spoiler in last year’s Premiership celebrations. In this year’s fixture it will be United who will be playing for their lives, with the Premiership in the balance. Level on points with Chelsea, and with a dominant goal difference, winning on Saturday brings United half-way to repeating last year’s fantastic success.

EPL Preview: Chelsea vs Manchester United

With only three matches to go, it is pretty evident that the game against Chelsea means more than just three points. This is the game that can decide the winner of this season’s premiership trophy. It means the whole championship, pride and glory that we fought for since August rests on a single match.
Arsenal’s incredible start to the season meant we were struggling to keep up from the start. It was like a beauty contest between two models. The difference was that only Manchester United had the brains for the Question and Answer part. But suddenly, out of nowhere a beast has appeared, playing some annoying, grotesque football, and on Saturday the beauty and the beast face each other in a match, which promises to be a really interesting encounter.
