    Default Football Manager 2009 Thread!

The stores finally stocked it so now that I've got it thought I might start this thread.

This game is fantastic. I've started a game with Reading, who have a good budget of 5 million which I boosted with the sales of some dead weight (Duberry, Lita and some other second rate players) and have manged to buy some good players (Guerreiro, Balde, E. Ward, W. Elliot) a few promising players and even managed to keep Hahneman, Convey and Doyle, despite offers from EPL clubs.

The game plays much better than the demo, as does the 3D, however I still prefer 2D. Although 3D is useful tactically at times if your trying to pin point problems, or seeing whether your player really was offside, or whether or not you should have had a penalty. If you can get your hands on the full game, I recommend getting it, it's a great game to play. Came out just in time after exams too

I haven't played '09 yet... I'm an xboxer, so I'm waiting for a new version to come out. Word is, there ins't going to be one this year. I'll be crushed if that's true.
I still play '08 all the time, it's by far the best of the 3 years they came out with....

Should I just switch to PC's '09 version?

Yeah I heard the same about the xbox as well. But when I went to the store and asked if they had it, they asked for what console.

Then again it is on PSP as well so I'm not sure if it will be on xbox, but I'm pretty sure I read that it wouldn't be. I'm sure you'll find the PC version to be better than the xbox version, but it's all down to preference. I'm not sure how different the console version was, but I'm sure you'll be more than satisfied with the PC version.

Well I do play the PC version, sometimes I just like to kick back on the couch and play though. Maybe I'll just have to invest in a laptop!

good game, im struggling but i think it is because i made a massive amount of changes to the team, 17 in and 12 out or something like that, few first teams players and some player to be in the reserves for a season or so. pretty much anyone i was told i should offload...went. lol

I still haven't installed this on my computer. Absolute time sucker. lol.

How is the 3D engine, and what glitches have you come across that are utterly annoying?

haha, yeah i spend so long on it lol.

the 3D engine is ok. it comes down to a matter of opinion as to whether you should use it.

personally i use the classic 2D view. but the 3D is good for seeing offsides and fouls that have been wrongly refereed.

there is one thing with it, the ways that the goals are animated, it often makes the keepers look like they are doing a shit job :P

Yeah I've been playing this a lot the last few weeks.

I started a game as Stuttgart, I like the German league because it's competitive, good teams, and rather free in terms of squad rules.

    In my 3rd season now.

Finished 3rd in my first season, did shit in the cup, and made first knockout round of UEFA Cup.

I won the league in my second season, with a lot of help from Scott McDonald who scored 32 goals, and made the quarter finals of the Champions League. Champions League was good fun, I got Juve in the RO16, lost 4-2 away in the first leg, before winning 2-0 in the second leg, with McDonald grabbing a winner in the 88th. I don't normally get excited playing FM, but that got me out of my seat lol.

Started my 3rd season, coming second.

There are some top regens in this game. Maybe a bit unrealistic but I'm not complaining :P.

Make sure you get yourself good scouts (at least 19 for judging PA) and send them to Brazil and somewhere else (the other countries are usually hit and miss) when all the regens are introduced. You should get at least one per season, sometimes more, that have very good CA as well as PA, and you pick them up cheap. Some of them cost less than 1 million, but I've paid as much as 13 million for one of them.

Does anyone have interesting formations or training schedules?

Red face Re: Football Manager 2009 Thread!

I haven't played FM for a couple years now. I love the game but I used to find entire weekends would disappear and I wouldn't remember them.....

Made the wife none too happy.
