| *spoilers* Pique Needs to Get His Act Together Pique picks himself up and decides to stay at Old Trafford | the Daily Mail Quote: Pique picks himself up and decides to stay at Old Trafford
Manchester United defender Gerard Pique has decided to commit his immediate future to the Premier League champions despite a recent dressing down from assistant manager Carlos Queiroz.
Pique has spent the past fortnight mulling over his future after being told by Sir Alex Ferguson's No 2 that he had not been trying hard enough and that he had not made enough of recent opportunities in the first team.
At first sources close to the young Spaniard suggested he was resigned to a future away from Old Trafford and was ready to return to Spain.
La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona as well as Real Betis and Real Sociedad all made enquiries about the 20-year-old's availability in the summer and the international central defender would not be short of offers if he decided to return to his homeland.
With Phil Bardsley likely to join Bryan Robson's Sheffield United in the Championship and Sunderland keen on Danny Simpson, Ferguson wants experienced cover at left back and will try to buy a player who can also function in the centre of defence. |

| He is a ball playing centre back similiar to Ferdinand, not all that arrive from the continent can adapt to the englisg velocity and long ball game, maybe Spain would be more suited to him, but he potentially could be gret for us.....only time will tell |

| Hey, don't pick on Pique!
He's a good young (being the operative word) defender, he's got potential, time will tell. Motivation is the key here.
We shouldn't let him go. Maybe on a loan spell again, but he is a red and sh9uld stay with us. |

| I cant say that I was happy when Pique missed that header to clear the ball against bolton but he has shown promise in the past and I think the simple fact that he has got a dressing down from the coaches shows they know hes better than that and needs to step up his game. hes capable but having an off week. |

| would hate to see pique go now, he would be a good cover for ferdinand, having said that would be a while before he can really take over from rio, his good promise, would be good if he battle for his spot |

| he's not paid to score goals. hes paid to keep them out of the net. Comparing his performances in the CL and premiership is ridiculous in the first place, because it isn't like this was Chelsea, last week of the year and his foot stopping a Drogba block buster is what clinches the title. A win or a loss of the Premiership title is due to a number of small innocuous events that in aggregate make the difference. His innocuous mistake cost us at least a point; a point that isn't made up by a meaningless goal in a meaningless Champions League game.

Although I'm upset about the Bloton match, I want to see him stick around. He has quite a lot of potential to become a strong defender

| oh he's not the only one. wesley has cost us as much if not more with his sad performance against Arsenal. Still there is plenty to smile about. We're the best defensive team in the league!
